The Couples Club “Night in New Orleans” event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 at the Event Center. Members and guests will be welcomed with Hurricanes, a signature drink of “The Big Easy” and other beverages; such as sodas, red and white wine. Attendees will have an opportunity to view a Louisiana themed slide show with recorded music while socializing, followed by some authentic food and live music.
After the social hour at 6:15 p.m. when members are seated at their assigned tables, the buffet dinner will begin. Catering is by the local Southern Comfort Kitchen specializing in authentic New Orleans cuisine. The menu will consist of: crispy catfish, prepared southern style (gf); muffaletta sandwiches; coleslaw (gf), fried Brussel sprouts (gf), golden hush puppies and creamy mac and cheese. The last four items are vegetarian.
After dinner The Funky Gators, a Zydeco band, will give attendees a 90 minute show from 7-8:30 p.m. Their six member band of accordion, saxophone, rubboard, drums, bass and guitar will provide a performance of Zydeco, Mardi Gras and Louisiana style music for listening and dancing.
The activity fee for March and the “Night in New Orleans” event is $65 for a single member and $130 per member couple. The activity fee for guest is $75 each. The last day to register for the event is Tuesday, March 3. No refunds will be made after that date. Registering and paying on line is easy. Go to the Club website, sign in with member email address and password. Click on the Night in New Orleans button found under UPCOMING EVENTS. For members who prefer to sit together at a table of 8 or 10 choose a unique one word table name and put it in the space marked “Unique Name” (for example, Smith ). New members who would like to sit at a Newcomers table should type Newcomers in that space provided. For those wishing to pay by check, then checks should be made out to Couples Club, and may be mailed to Gail Bromberg, 1100 Ptarmigan Drive, No. 4, Entry 2, or put into a marked box outside of the residence. Enclose a note to indicate a unique table name for the group. Seating will be assigned, unless a preference is marked with a “Unique Name” when registering. . Do not drop off any checks at Gateway.
